Robert Allman
Robert Allman is a visual effects supervisor at Framestore, based in London. He earned an MA in Computer Animation from London Guildhall in 1997. He began his career immediately afterwards by joining Mill Film. In those early years, he contributed to blockbuster films such as Gladiator (2000), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and the early entries in the Harry Potter franchise. After gaining experience in technical and CG roles, he joined Framestore as a Technical Director. There, he re-entered the Harry Potter world, working on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and leading CG sequences on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). He later moved to Prime Focus, where he became CG Supervisor on films such as Mirror Mirror (2012) and Poltergeist (2015), before returning to Framestore. At Framestore, he played a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, working as CG Supervisor on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). His early pre-production work on Avengers: Endgame was especially notable for helping to develop the machine-learning system used to bring the “Smart Hulk” character to life. He was promoted to VFX Supervisor at Framestore for Doctor Dolittle (2020), The Little Mermaid (2023), Wonka (2023), Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025). For Avengers: Endgame (2019), he was nominated for a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature for “Smart Hulk”, and for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), he was nominated for Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture for the Black Lake environment.
